Buying printable wall art is a great way to adorn your walls in style and not break the bank in the process. Here is a how-to to get you started designing your home.

DETERMINE YOUR WALL ART SIZES

You probably have a space in mind for wall art. Get your tape measure out and figure out the size and number of pieces you would like. In the example above, 3 verticle pieces fit nicely. Determine the best sizes given your space. The photos above are approximately 18 x 24"Keep this size in mind when you shop!

Hint: Keep frame ratios in mind as that is how many printables are sold - 2:3, 3:4, 4:5, or ISO A0 to A4.

SHOP FOR YOUR WALL ART

This is the fun part! Keeping your size and style in mind, search for your printable wall art. You may want to use the words, "printable" or "digital download" in your search terms.

Tips: Make sure that the listing offers the size that you need. It should be high-quality 300 dpi or higher. Once you purchase your printable wall art you will receive a download link. So download, unzip, and save your file!

HOW TO PRINT YOUR WALL ART

Online

Choose from one of the many online printers and have your art shipped after printing. Choose from VistaPrint, OfficeMax, or Staples. It's easy to upload and order. Please note, that they may only offer certain sizes.

Local Print Shop

You can save your file to a thumb drive and take it to a local shop. Choose good quality paper to print on. Most shops offer a variety of sizes and paper to choose from.

CHOOSING FRAMES FOR WALL ART

The first and most obvious is to choose the size that fits your print. ;)

Style

Oftentimes, choosing simple frame styles is the best option, especially for prints like mine that tend to be modern or boho. Heavy, dark, or ornate frames need to be chosen carefully and tend to fit into certain decor styles.

Matting

Consider purchasing a frame with matting to enhance your artwork. Great gallery walls have matting on some but not all art pieces. If this is an extra expense that you can't afford, don't worry about it. It isn't necessary.

Weight

For larger pictures, choose lightweight styles!

Hanging Brackets

Don't forget to check the bracket style so you know how to attach it to the wall. There are so many destructive-free hanging options now. Consider them especially for a gallery wall.

Color

Choose a frame color that balances or coordinates with your artwork. This is kind of obvious but needs to be said. You don't want your frame to "outdo" the artwork. Again, simple is usually best.

CONCLUSION

Printable wall art is a great way to add color and flair to your home. It is easy to purchase, download, print, and frame to design your wall art space. If you have any question about my art, please contact me.
